Mondays  October 23, 30, and November 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This program is ideal for young people who are becoming more independent and will not always be under adult supervision as they travel back and forth to school and activities. Using one-on-one coaching and focused role-playing, the workshop introduces personal safety issues to a maturing young person. Scenarios include moving around on one’s own (public transportation), being home alone, parties and group social events, peer pressure, navigating public spaces like movie theaters and restaurants, ending inappropriate interactions with adults and older teens you know, general street safety, dealing with property crime. Students will rehearse verbal and physical resistance, boundary setting, and accessing adult support.
