2-Hour Introductory Workshop Adults & Older Teens (All Gender)

Tuesday Evening, June 25 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The Prepare Introductory Workshop explores a range of violence prevention strategies. Participants will examine the social and cultural context of violence and how media’s framing of violence reinforces myths and misinformation – which doesn’t lead to more safety. We will replace fiction with fact and replace bias with trusting our own instincts.

Participants will learn and rehearse a wide range of responses from compliance to verbal and physical resistance in interactive role-playing with highly trained instructors portraying realistic scenarios.

Included:

Understanding the physiology of adrenaline, acknowledging and managing emotional overwhelm, verbal and non-verbal communications skills for self-advocacy, accessing bystander help, becoming an advocate for others, and physical skills for worst case scenarios, reducing shame and self-blame, and how to support survivors without victim blaming.
